Overview

New Zealand is an island country in the southwestern Pacific Ocean. It consists of two main landmasses—the North Island and the South Island —and over  700 smaller islands. It is the sixth-largest island country by area, covering 268,021 square kilometres. Auckland, based around 2 large harbours, is a major city in the north of New Zealand’s North Island. In the centre, the iconic Sky Tower has views of Viaduct Harbour, which is full of superyachts and lined with bars and cafes. Auckland Domain, the city’s oldest park, is based around an extinct volcano and home to the formal Wintergardens. Near Downtown, Mission Bay Beach has a seaside promenade. Kelly Tarlton’s Sea Life Aquarium is a public aquarium opened in 1985 in Auckland, New Zealand. Located at 23 Tamaki Drive, it was the brainchild of New Zealand  marine archaeologist and diver Kelly Tarlton.

Itinerary

Welcome in Auckland. On arrival, you will be transfer to your hotel (Check-in time is after 3.00 pm). Overnight stay at Auckland.
Today, after breakfast at the hotel, proceed on your own to Sky tower. The Sky Tower is the tallest man-made structure in New Zealand and offers breathtaking views for up to 80 kilometres in every direction. Glass-fronted elevators take visitors up to the observation levels in only 40 seconds, travelling at 18 kilometres per hour along the way. The main observation level provides a 360 degree view of Auckland. Enjoy the rest of the day on your own. Overnight stay at Auckland.
Today, after breakfast at the hotel, proceed for your day trip and visit two of New Zealand’s most famous attractions, Hobbiton Movie Set and Waitomo Caves. Be fascinated as the magical world of Hobbiton comes to life and take photos in front of your favourite places like the Hobbit Holes, the Shire and the Green Dragon Inn. Then journey to the World Famous Waitomo Glowworm Caves and be captivated by the thousands of magical glowworms twinkling. Overnight stay at Auckland.
Today, after breakfast at the hotel proceed for Full day Mount Cook tour. Travel north through the historic gold mining region of the rugged Kawarau River Gorgeand past Cromwell, famed for its fruit-growing. Continue through the rugged high country landscape of the Mackenzie Basin to arrive at Mount Cook Village, where you can gaze up at the 3,724 metre-high mountain Aoraki / Mount Cook. Return back to your hotel. Overnight stay at Queenstown.
Morning breakfast at hotel. Check out from hotel & free time until drop to airport for sweet home.

When is the best time to visit New Zealand?

You can visit New Zealand at any time of the year. Summer and winter temperatures vary by only about 10ºC over most of the country, making New Zealand an ideal
holiday destination all year round.New Zealand has four quite distinct seasons – Spring (September – November), Summer (December – February), Autumn/Fall (March – May)
and Winter (June – August).In summer there’s plenty of sunshine, and activities in and around the water include rafting, snorkelling, diving and kayaking.You’ll find snow on the mountains in winter and excellent skiing. Away from the mountains, New Zealand winters are mild and temperatures generally do not fall below freezing.

Do I need a passport or visa to enter New Zealand?

All visitors to New Zealand must carry a passport that is valid for at least three months beyond the date you intend to leave the country.Most visitors who intend to stay for less than three months do not require a visa. If you want to stay longer than three months, or your country of origin does not have a visa waiver agreement with New Zealand, then you will need to apply for a Visitor’s Visa.

Is it safe to drink the water in New Zealand?

New Zealand cities and towns have excellent water supplies and in all cases tap water is fresh and safe to drink. Water from rivers and lakes should be boiled, chemically treated or filtered before drinking to avoid stomach upsets.

What kind of night-life is available in New Zealand?

Lively DJ and band scenes, particularly in the larger cities, have given New Zealand’s night life a renewed vibrancy. You will find a variety of night-clubs, cabarets, pubs, concerts and live performances to choose from, and there are also four casinos, in Auckland, Christchurch, Dunedin and Queenstown.

When is the best time to go trekking/hiking in New Zealand?

Tracks such as the Abel Tasman, Heaphy and Queen Charlotte Sounds Walkway located at the top of the South Island can be walked all year round. However, those tracks at higher altitudes such as the world famous Milford Track, Kepler and Routeburn are closed in the winter due to snow. You must book to walk the Milford and Routeburn tracks, which are open between October and April.

What is the water temperature?

The water temperature of the sea surrounding New Zealand varies between seasons, and is warmer the further north you go.In winter, the ocean temperature surrounding
the lower South Island drops as low as 8°C, whilst around the upper North Island water temperatures average around 15°C.In summer the sea temperature around the South Island varies from around 14°C to 18°C. The North Island water temperatures are lovely and warm at around 20-22°C.

What's the climate like?

New Zealand’s seasons are the reverse of the Northern Hemisphere. This means that the warmest months are December, January and February, while the coldest are in June, July and August. Don’t let cold months put you off – winters tend to be short and generally fairly mild.
